Why does this program keep doing a ''socket receive timeout''? What exactly does this mean? Periodically I get this message and it is anywhere from 1-2 hrs before I can get an update. Help. Thank-you!

You will see this error message from time to time. The FollowMee app uses UDP to upload data to the server and upload might not be successful. But that happens, you see this error message, and the FollowMee will retry until it succeeds.

What is the difference betwen tjose 2 time outs?
Is the first one for loss of mobile connection and the second one for gps sognal

When the app cannot connect to the server in one port, it will try a different port. These 2 messages are the same error message, just with different ports.

I am receiving this problem quite almost everyday but here I noticed something. Under data plan it will always fail. But once I reach home my cellphone automatically connects to a home wi-fe signal the apps will work okay.

Maybe this is a setting problem. In the phone settings, allow cellular data to this FollowMee app. Like in iPhone, go to Settings -> Cellular. Then scroll down till you see FollowMee. Make sure that the switch is turned on.

Just wondering if the timed out code occurs if the app is stopped and started again. How can I tell if the app is stopped and started again?

Hi, mdunnion:
The timed out error might occur when you start this gps tracking app. When this happens, you just need to start it again. It could need 1 or 2 more trial to connect if the cellular signal is weak.
To tell if this gps tracking app has been stopped and started, you can use the report to tell you. Open the map page in the full web site, select your device and press button "download my tracks" On the next page, make sure to check "include tracker status". The report will show the stop/start timestamp.
