Is it possible to make an "On-Demand Update by SMS-command"... and make this working "invisible", so the user can not notice the Followmee-now-question. This could be usefull to locate Android-phones who can not connect to internet or have lost wifi-connection... OR "asker" not having internet-connection. Could be triggered by the "asker" sending a pre-configured SMS-message. The "receiver-phone" locates its most recent position the best way possible, and sends back an SMS to the "asker" with the GPS-coordinates.
In this case, a worried parent can be waiting or driving arround (not having internet on the way)... sending an SMS for "On-Demand Update" to childs cellphone... and receive an answer-SMS with the latest position. That way, the position can be entered in a car-GPS to drive to that location.
On-Demand Update by SMS could trigger the same location-update as sent by your webpage, but the answer should be sent back by SMS to the askers-phone. Most likely is to hide this whole event.

I really like this idea if it is not intrusive or overbearing or adds much overhead to the app. I believe in the KISS principle.

Add another vote for this feature. Currently testing with Lemfo Lem5 smartwatch (Cell phone watch running Android 5.0). with 10 min update interval I had 35% battery after 9 hours. This was with wifi and bluetooth off. While I know I need the GPS on for geofence, it is probably my biggest battery drain. I will be checking another forum to see if I could check for wifi or bluetooth to verify a "home" status with lower battery drain. My application is a wandering senior.
